March 14th, 2023. Borsalino unveils Tornando a Casa, the new exciting short film starring internationally renowned actress Caterina Murino. Written by Brand Curator Giacomo Santucci and directed by photographer Joseph Cardo, the short movie celebrates Borsalino’s DNA, which draws inspiration from history to design a future full of contemporary creativity. The premiere of Tornando a Casa anticipates the launch of the new Borsalino YouTube channel and features three special preview screenings: March 21st, 2023 at the Italian Embassy in Paris, March 22nd at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo and March 23rdh at the Kristalli Cinema in Alessandria Italy.

The main character in the short film is Gabriella, a woman in search of inspiration, who travels between reality and fiction in the places of her childhood. Set in the 1970’s, Tornando a Casa evokes the Maison’s core of tradition and history as a source of creative inspiration, enhancing the uniqueness and authenticity of one of the greatest expressions of Made in Italy in the world.  With this unprecedented project, Borsalino confirms its historic link with the world of cinema, which continues from the Golden Age of Hollywood up until present day.

The city of Alessandria, the heart of Borsalino since 1857, plays a fundamental role and location in the short film, which brings to life two of the most representative places in area: Palazzo Borsalino, the majestic headquarters of the hat manufacturer, and Villa Guerci, an elegant residence in historic city center.

Giacomo Santucci, Brand Curator of Borsalino affirms, “Art is an inner necessity, an immortal form of expression of the deepest and most refined feelings, embodying the suffering, desires, joys, and

ideas not only from an artist, but of an entire culture, in a specific moment in history. We owe what we are today to the work of our ancestors: the present is the reflection of a past that is not dead, but rather still vibrates in the minds of all those who are inspired by it for the creation of a solid future.”

Joseph Cardo, Photographer and Director confirms, “Directing Tornando a Casa was an exciting experience: in addition to being a project that tells a piece of history of one of the iconic Italian brands in the world. I had the unique opportunity to work with actress Caterina Murino. Her interpretation was simply unique: the ability to immerse herself in the protagonist, Gabriella’s psychological moment, and to forcefully express and embody the character’s emotions, gave the scenes a very intense, emotional rendering. The stylistic choice of black and white, as well as the use of a romantic style of visual storytelling, was an exciting challenge for me and the whole crew. I wanted to create an immersive viewing experience that felt almost like a fairytale, and I’m really happy with the result.”
